Letter from the PTA President (June 12, 2019)
Dear PTA Family,
My name is Jennifer Cheung and I wanted to introduce myself as the incoming PTA president. As a Fremont native with 2 kids in the Mandarin Immersion Program, I have seen the city grow from a sleepy town with vineyards and Christmas tree farms to a high-tech powerhouse. Yet with all of these changes, the City has kept it’s tight knit community feel intact and I wanted my children to have the same upbringing.
I joined the PTA because as a non-profit organization, our goal is to positively impact the lives of ALL children and families at Azevada. We want to see this school succeed in all ways imaginable. As a working mom, I understand the demands of balancing work, home, and volunteer time. If we all gave some time each week to volunteer for a school activity, the sum of our efforts would add up to years of great memories for the kids. As a child, my parents would help the PTA organize an end of year pot-luck for my elementary school. I have vivid memories of communally sitting at the cafeteria tables with families from all over the world and my taste buds dancing from trying all the home-made meals.
My goal for the next year is to carry on the work of all the past volunteers and hope to inspire more people to join us. Whether you have 10-15 minutes per week to help out while at home or can work as a crossing guard at the school, the PTA is here to help you find those volunteer opportunities. We really appreciate all the work everyone does, it makes Azevada a strong and proud community.
Thank you so much for continuing to be a PTA member and I look forward to meeting all of you and listening to your ideas. Please feel free to forward this email to any new Azevada parents you might know and don't hesitate to reach out to me in person at school, via email, or at any of the meetings!
See you in the fall!
