Math Kangaroo 2021

Math Kangaroo is an international math competition that encourages problem solving in mathematics. The test is challenging (but fun!) and is comprised almost entirely of word problems. Depending on grade level, there are 24 to 30 problems. The students are allowed 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete the test. High scoring students receive a small prize and will be recognized on the Math Kangaroo website in Summer 2021.

Azevada students in grades 1-6 are encouraged to participate.

NOTE: Students must be independent readers (around late first/early 2nd grade level for Level 1-2). No reading help is allowed on the exam.

Math Kangaroo will be offered either online or in person this year depending on the COVID situations and school guidelines for after-school activities.

There is a $21 registration fee that is paid directly to Math Kangaroo upon registration. (Scholarships are available. For details, email

Azevada WILL be offering a center this year, so all Azevada students will have a spot. It is likely that we will run a *proctored* online session. HOWEVER - right now, in order to set up our site, I need at least one other volunteer to act as a back-up contact for the MK organizaiton.. Please e-mail me if you are interested in helping out. Thanks!

New for 2021!
